Pawan Sewa Samiti runs School for Deaf at Barnala in the North Indian state of Punjab. The beneficiaries are deaf and dumb students from poor and illiterate background. They are provided with basic education through special technique and proper amenities.
The Project by Pawan Seva Samiti has been running since 1982. There are around 108 students in the school. The well-qualified teachers impart education through hearing-aid machine and speech trainer computer to improve voice modulation. Besides academics, the students are taught handicraft, drawing, dancing and computer literacy. Educational toys and computer software are installed so that students can learn more effectively. During the year programs like literary and cultural events, annual sports day, Independence Day, Republic Day, Hindi Diwas are organized in the school and students actively participate in the event.
